Even as a young person, this film had no merit. The defining moment, nadir, of the series was of course this scene:

Here Freddy obtains a rusty version of the Powerglove after being beat down in game of “Kill you in your dreams: the awakening of bedwetting”. As a kid this was like the coolest toy ever. Why? Because it combined Nintendo, Captain N: The Gamemaster and looking like a badass all in one. Unfortunately, when I finally did get a powerglove, for like 20$ on the Keflavík Naval-Airbase, it turned out to be a crappy videogame controller. Firstly, some games would just go haywire. Maybe I will bear witness to  this quote: “at least as close as you can get to a Zen moment while playing a shooting game on the NES”.

However, back to the film. I decided to watch it again. Apparently, being that young, I did not connect the dots. Of course, the Wizard of OZ allusion is easy, but what about the Mussorgsky allusion? What does that mean? Of course, I admit not getting the Wizard allusion: to my defense I did not know about this film which features the so-called Powerglove.
